LG Optimus 4X HD Android phone

The LG Optimums 4X HD does not leave a very positive first impression, but it is a phone that is growing fast on you the more you use it. The Optimus-4X HD is a great device, but at 8.89 mm thin, it is certainly not clunky. The device is constructed largely from solid feeling plastic and the design is very rectangular, in contrast to the curved, rounded shape of the Galaxy S III, for example.

LG has added some nice aesthetics of Optimums 4X HD, including two chrome strips that run all around the edges, an etched LG logo on the back and a back surface with raised ridges. The surface of the plastic back feels more like thick leather, and it makes the phone easy to grip. Build quality feels solid, no squeaks or rattles when the housing is pressed. The Optimus-4X HD, is the first smartphone, the LG effectively competes with the best Android phones on the market.

The surface of the Optimus-4X HD plastic back feels a bit like thick leather. It makes the phone easy to grip and gives it a distinctive look.

Below the Optimums 4X HD screen are three capacitive buttons (Back, Home and Menu), which are hidden when the backlighting is off. The buttons respond when pressed and the soft white backlight looks excellent, especially the all-white model that we evaluated. On a positive note, are not the volume buttons easy to mistake as many other Android phones press.

Perhaps the worst design decision on the LG Optimums 4X HD is the position of the speaker.
The volume buttons on the left side of the Optimums 4X HD are not the most comfortable and are bad for one-hand operation down.

The LG Optimums 4X HD has a 4.7in IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 and it is one of the best features of the phone. The Optimums 4X HD screen is not as bright or vivid as the One X, although no other phone on the market, either.
Our only complaint with the Optimums 4X HD screen is that the display panels itself, as if it is set deep into the shell of the phone than many other smartphones.
A smart and functional LG UI skin

The LG Optimums HD is running 4 X the Ice Cream Sandwich versions 4.0 of Google's Android platform, but is skinned with a new LG user interface.
Swipe down the notification bar on the Optimums 4X HD, for example, and you get quick access to four fully customizable quick settings switches called. You can add and edit a series of gags here, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, sound profiles and the brightness of the screen. LG includes a large number of settings for the home screen. There is the possibility to change the theme, select a different animation and swipe up and restore your home-screen configuration. The latter is a feature worth really, if you ever need to reset your phone to factory settings and want to keep your Home screen layout.

If you do not like an app icon on the Optimums 4X HD home screen, you can long press the button to edit the symbol. LG preloads four sets of icons on the phone. If you remove your finger on the screen and unlock it, a circle appears, and gradually becomes larger, while you do. The circle is transparent and shows the screen you are swiping.

Fortunately, the likes of LG Smart World App Store will be uninstalled easily.

Other notable items on the Optimums 4X HD include the excellent quiet time that allows you to sometimes set to turn off all sounds, and a number of options such as tilt to doze gesture over the phone or stop the alarm, mute and incoming calls on Yahoo! Video playback. The Optimus-4X HD is the first top-end phone LG, we evaluated that offers outstanding performance.
The LG Optimums 4X HD has an NFC chip, making it compatible with NFC tags LG.
The NFC chip inside the battery compartment of the Optimums 4X HD hidden, as shown above. This image was captured with the phone's camera.

The Optimus-4X HD has 16 GB of internal memory, but there's a micros card slot behind the back cover for additional storage space. The phone has an 8-megapixel camera with a backside illumination sensor and a 1.3-megapixel camera front for video calls.
LG says that the NVidia Tetra processor in the Optimums 3-4X HD uses a low-power fifth nuclear power in order to save battery, but uses the Optimums 4X HD often struggled to take a full day during our tests. You can achieve more if the energy saving settings but the Optimums 4X HD has to tweak use much juice.
